Short waterfall walks in New Hampshire
Last checked 2026-11-01 · How we check
Each walk below has a published length or time from the managing agency. Short doesn't always mean easy: we note rough footing where the agency does.
- Sabbaday Falls: easy 15-minute walk on an evenly graded gravel trail (Forest Service).
- Ripley Falls: about 1/2 mile in, described as an easy-to-find short walk (NH State Parks).
- Kinsman Falls: about 1/2 mile, about 20 minutes one way from The Basin; the last bit to the base is a rough path with no bridges (NH State Parks).
- Diana's Baths: about three-quarters of a mile on the Moat Mountain Trail; the Forest Service says the section to the Baths is ADA, with benches.
- Winniweta Falls: 0.9 mile over gentle terrain, but only after fording the Ellis River. Skip it in high water.
- Glen Ellis Falls: a "short hike" to a 66-foot falls; the Forest Service doesn't publish a distance.
Want a longer day? Arethusa Falls is 1.4 miles each way, and the Flume Gorge loop is 2 miles.

- Wet rock near waterfalls is very slippery, even when it looks dry. Stay back from edges and off the tops of falls.
- High water after rain or snowmelt makes crossings and pools dangerous. Turn back if a crossing looks deep or fast.
- Daylight is not a safety guarantee. Plan your time around the route, the weather and your group, and carry a light.
- Check the managing agency for closures and current conditions.
